Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh

Bilaspur is a town on the Sutlej in Himachal Pradesh, India, and the headquarters of Bilaspur district. Founded in the mid-17th century as the capital of the hill state of Kahlur, it gave the state its later name. The old town was submerged in the 1960s by the Gobind Sagar reservoir of the Bhakra Dam, and a new town was built on the hillside above.
