Guru Gobind Singh

1666–1708 · 17th century

Guru Gobind Singh was the tenth Sikh Guru, who in 1699 founded the Khalsa, the order of initiated Sikhs. He fought the Rajput hill chiefs of the Sivaliks, including Bilaspur and Garhwal at Bhangani in 1688, and Mughal forces. His two youngest sons were executed at Sirhind in 1704, an act the Nawab of Malerkotla protested.
