Bhakra Dam
The Bhakra Dam is a concrete gravity dam on the Sutlej in the Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh, India, completed in 1963. Over 220 metres high, it holds back the Gobind Sagar reservoir and supplies irrigation and hydroelectric power to Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan. Jawaharlal Nehru hailed it as one of the new temples of resurgent India.
