Anglo-Nepalese War

1814–1816 · 19th century · Also known as Gurkha War

The Anglo-Nepalese War was fought between the East India Company and the Kingdom of Nepal. It ended with the Treaty of Sugauli, by which Nepal gave up Kumaon, Garhwal and the hill country between the Sutlej and the Kali. The British restored many small hill states that the Gorkhas had conquered, among them the Simla Hill States.
