Simla Hill States
The Simla Hill States were a group of small princely states in the western Himalayan foothills around Shimla, most of them ruled by Rajput families. After the Anglo-Nepalese War of 1814–1816 they came under British protection, supervised by a superintendent at Shimla. In 1948 they were merged to form Himachal Pradesh.
