Black River (Asia)
The Black River, or Da River, rises in Yunnan in China and flows south-east through the mountains of north-western Vietnam to join the Red River. Its valley was home to Tai peoples organised in chiefly domains known as the Sip Song Chau Tai, the twelve Tai lands, from which France formed the Tai Federation in 1948.
