Book of Wei

554 · 6th century · Also known as Wei shu

The Book of Wei (Wei shu) is the official history of the Northern Wei dynasty of China and its successor the Eastern Wei, compiled by Wei Shou and presented in 554 under the Northern Qi. Covering the Tuoba Xianbei rulers from their origins to 550, it is a major source for northern China and for the steppe and Central Asian peoples. It was criticised from the start for bias, and parts were later lost and restored from other works.
