Brive-la-Gaillarde

Brive-la-Gaillarde is a town on the River Corrèze in the Limousin, central France. A market and route centre since Roman times, it grew around the collegiate church of Saint-Martin and was fortified in the Middle Ages, close to the castle of the viscounts of Turenne. It claims to have been the first town in occupied France to free itself, on 15 August 1944.
