13th century · 13th century

Candi Jago is a 13th-century Hindu-Buddhist temple near Malang in East Java, built as the memorial shrine of King Wisnuwardhana of Singhasari, who died in 1268. Its terraced structure is covered with narrative reliefs, including scenes from the Kunjarakarna and the Mahabharata, carved in the flat wayang style. The temple was enlarged in the Majapahit period, in the 14th century.
