Candi Belahan

11th century · 11th century

Candi Belahan is an 11th-century bathing place on the eastern slope of Mount Penanggungan in East Java, Indonesia, traditionally linked with the burial of King Airlangga. Water flowed from fountains in the form of goddesses, and a celebrated statue of Vishnu riding Garuda found there is often thought to portray Airlangga himself. It is one of the main monuments of the Kahuripan period.
