Canute VI of Denmark
Canute VI was king of Denmark from 1182 to 1202, the son of Valdemar I. With his adviser Archbishop Absalon he extended Danish power along the southern Baltic, forcing the Pomeranian duke Bogislaw I to become his vassal in 1185. He refused homage to Emperor Frederick Barbarossa and was succeeded by his brother Valdemar II.
