Carrickfergus

Carrickfergus is a town on the northern shore of Belfast Lough in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Its castle was built by John de Courcy after his invasion of Ulster in 1177 and became the centre of the earldom of Ulster. It is one of the best-preserved Norman castles in Ireland, and William III landed at the town in 1690.
