Carthach of Lismore
Carthach, also called Mochuda, was an Irish monk and saint who died in 637. He founded and ruled a monastery at Rahan in the midlands but was expelled from there around 636 and led his community south to Lismore, in the lands of the Déisi. His foundation at Lismore became one of the most famous schools of early Ireland, and he is venerated as its patron.
