County Waterford
County Waterford is a county in the province of Munster, in the south-east of Ireland, named after the city of Waterford, founded by Vikings in the early 10th century. In the early Middle Ages its lands belonged to the Déisi, and the monastery of Lismore was one of Ireland's great schools. The Anglo-Normans took Waterford city in 1170, beginning the English conquest of Ireland.
