Castiglione delle Stiviere
Castiglione delle Stiviere is a town in the province of Mantua in Lombardy, Italy, south of Lake Garda. It was ruled by a branch of the Gonzaga family as a marquisate and principality, and was the birthplace of Saint Aloysius Gonzaga. In 1796 Napoleon defeated the Austrians nearby, and after the Battle of Solferino in 1859 Henri Dunant cared for the wounded in the town, an experience that led to the founding of the Red Cross.
