late 3rd century BCE · 3rd century BCE

Cavarus was the last king of the Celtic kingdom of Tylis in eastern Thrace in the late 3rd century BCE. Polybius praises him as a ruler of kingly character who protected merchants and helped mediate peace between Byzantium and Rhodes in 220 BCE. His kingdom was overthrown by the Thracians shortly afterwards, and coins in his name survive.
