Central African Republic

The Central African Republic is a landlocked country in central Africa, formerly the French colony of Ubangi-Shari. Its northern regions bordered the Wadai Empire, which raided them for slaves. French colonial expansion in the region contributed to the conquest of Wadai in the early twentieth century.
