Central Africa
Central Africa is the region of the African continent centred on the Congo basin, including present-day Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of the Congo, Angola and neighbouring countries. It was home to the Kongo Empire near the Atlantic coast and the Lunda Empire in the interior. Both were drawn into the Atlantic slave trade and later colonised by European powers.
