Ceretic of Elmet

d. c. 616 · 7th century

Ceretic was the last known king of Elmet, a British kingdom in what is now West Yorkshire, England. The Historia Brittonum says that Edwin of Northumbria seized Elmet and expelled him, usually dated around 617, and the Annales Cambriae record his death about that time. His fall ended the last independent British kingdom east of the Pennines.
