Chahar Province
Chahar Province was a province of the Republic of China, created in 1928 from a special district north-west of Beijing, with its capital at Kalgan (Zhangjiakou). Named after the Chahar Mongols, it combined Mongol grazing lands with Chinese farming districts. Japanese forces occupied it in 1937, and it became part of the Mengjiang client state. The People's Republic dissolved the province in 1952, dividing it between Inner Mongolia and Hebei.
