Château-Salins

Château-Salins is a small town in the Moselle department of north-eastern France, in the Seille valley. It grew up around a castle built in the fourteenth century to protect salt springs, and its saltworks were one of the sources of revenue of the dukes of Lorraine. With the rest of Moselle it was annexed to the German Empire from 1871 to 1918.
