Chirisamuru

c. 1712–1788 · 18th century

Chirisamuru was a Changamire ruler of the Rozvi Empire whose reign the site dates to about 1712 to 1788. During this long reign the Rozvi military mainly served as a deterrent against Portuguese attempts to re-establish inland footholds. His death removed a central figure of continuity, contributing to the empire's later weakness.
