Consensus Tigurinus

1549 · 16th century · Also known as Zürich Consensus, Consensus of Zürich

The Consensus Tigurinus was an agreement on the Lord's Supper concluded in 1549 between the churches of Zürich and Geneva, led by Heinrich Bullinger and John Calvin. By reconciling Zwingli's symbolic view with Calvin's doctrine of a spiritual presence, it united the Swiss Reformed churches and helped define Reformed Protestantism against Lutheranism.
