Corbie Abbey

Corbie Abbey was a Benedictine monastery in Picardy, northern France, founded around 657 by Queen Balthild. Under the Carolingians it became a leading centre of learning and manuscript copying, where an early form of Caroline minuscule script was used. Its monks founded Corvey in Saxony in 822, and the abbey survived until the French Revolution.
