Corent
Corent is a basalt plateau in the Auvergne, south of Clermont-Ferrand, and the site of a large oppidum of the Arverni in the 2nd and 1st centuries BCE. Excavations since 2001 have uncovered a sanctuary, a market square, houses and huge quantities of imported Italian wine amphorae, suggesting it was a major political and religious centre before Gergovia rose to prominence.
