Dagome iudex

c. 991 · 10th century

Dagome iudex is a summary, preserved in an 11th-century papal register, of a document from around 991 by which Duke Mieszko I of Poland, his wife Oda and their sons placed their land under the protection of the Holy See. It describes the boundaries of the state centred on Gniezno and is the earliest written record of its extent.
