Dagomba people

Also known as Dagbamba

The Dagomba, or Dagbamba, are a people of northern Ghana who speak Dagbani, a Gur language. Their kingdom, Dagbon, was founded by mounted invaders probably in the 15th century and is ruled by the Ya Na from Yendi. Many Dagomba are Muslims, and the kingdom was an important trading power on the routes between the Hausa states and Asante.
