Damghan
Damghan is a city in Semnan province, northern Iran, on the old road from Tehran to Khorasan. It holds the Tarikhaneh, one of the oldest surviving mosques in Iran. In 1729 Nader, the future Nader Shah, defeated the Afghan ruler Ashraf Hotak near the city, beginning the expulsion of the Afghans from Persia.
