Caspian Sea
The Caspian Sea is the world's largest inland body of water, between the Caucasus, Iran and Central Asia. Its northern shores were the base of the Khazar Khaganate, and its southern shores formed part of the Seljuk and Safavid empires. Nader Shah of the Afsharid Empire compelled Russia to return its Caspian conquests through the treaties of Resht and Ganja.
