Dassaretae
The Dassaretae were an ancient people living around Lake Ohrid and the upper valleys to its west, in present-day North Macedonia and Albania. Ancient writers place them on the border between Illyria and Macedon, and their towns included Lychnidus. Their land was contested by the Illyrian kingdom and the Macedonian kings, and later fell under Roman control along the Via Egnatia.
