Decelea
Decelea was a deme of northern Attica on the route from Athens to Euboea and Boeotia. In 413 BCE, on the advice of the exiled Alcibiades, Sparta occupied and fortified it as a permanent base, cutting Athens off from its farmland and the Laurium silver mines and causing thousands of slaves to desert. The last phase of the Peloponnesian War is often called the Decelean War.
