Delft
Delft is a city in the province of South Holland, Netherlands, between Rotterdam and The Hague, which received town rights in 1246. It prospered from brewing, cloth and later the blue-and-white Delftware pottery. William the Silent was assassinated in the Prinsenhof there in 1584 and lies in its New Church, the burial place of the House of Orange, and the painter Johannes Vermeer worked in the city.
