Deldo

d. 29 BCE · 1st century BCE

Deldo was a king of the Bastarnae who led raids across the lower Danube into Thrace and Moesia. In 29 BCE the Roman governor of Macedonia, Marcus Licinius Crassus, defeated his army and killed him in single combat. Octavian refused Crassus the rare honour of dedicating the spolia opima, reserving such glory for himself.
