1877, 1903, 1911 · 19th century

The Delhi Durbars were imperial assemblies held at Delhi to mark the accession of British monarchs as rulers of India. The first, in 1877, proclaimed Queen Victoria Empress of India; the second, in 1903, celebrated Edward VII; and the third, in 1911, was attended in person by George V and Queen Mary, who announced the reversal of the partition of Bengal and the move of the capital from Calcutta to Delhi.
