Derby
Derby is a city in the East Midlands of England on the River Derwent. In the Viking Age it was one of the Five Boroughs of the Danelaw, taken by Æthelflæd of Mercia in 917. In the 18th century the Lombe brothers' silk mill made it an early centre of factory industry, part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, and it later became a base for railway and aero-engine manufacture.
