Dilmun Burial Mounds

c. 2050–1750 BCE · 21st century BCE

The Dilmun Burial Mounds are the tens of thousands of earth and stone tumuli built across northern Bahrain mainly between about 2050 and 1750 BCE, in the Early Dilmun period. They range from small individual graves to large royal tombs at A'ali. Many have been lost to modern building, and twenty-one archaeological sites were inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019.
