Dinar
The dinar was the gold coin of the Islamic world, first issued in the Umayyad period. Almoravid gold dinars, minted from West African gold carried across the Sahara, were among the most trusted coins of the western Mediterranean and circulated widely. In the Darfur Sultanate profile the word also appears in the name of its last sultan, Ali Dinar.
