Diplomatic marriage
Diplomatic marriage is the practice of arranging royal marriages to seal alliances between states. The Mitanni Empire made extensive use of it, sending princesses to the pharaohs of Egypt, as recorded in the Amarna letters. Such marriages reinforced the peace between Mitanni and Egypt and formed part of the diplomatic system of the Late Bronze Age.
