Douala

Douala is the largest city and main port of Cameroon, on the Wouri estuary near the Gulf of Guinea. It grew from the trading towns of the Duala people, whose chiefs dealt with European merchants from the 17th century, and became the centre of the German colony of Kamerun in 1884. Today it is Cameroon's economic capital.
