Douai
Douai is a town on the river Scarpe in the Nord department of northern France. In the Middle Ages it was one of the great cloth towns of the County of Flanders; it passed to the French crown in 1312, returned to Flanders in 1369 and became French for good when Louis XIV took it in 1667. Its university, founded in 1559, was a centre of Catholic learning, and its English College produced the Douay Bible.
