Dvaita Vedanta

13th century · 13th century · Also known as Dvaita

Dvaita Vedanta is a dualist school of Hindu philosophy founded by Madhvacharya in the 13th century in coastal Karnataka. It teaches that God, identified with Vishnu, individual souls and matter are eternally distinct, in contrast to the non-dualism of Advaita. Its monasteries at Udupi remain its main centre.
