East Bengal
East Bengal was the name of the eastern province of Pakistan from partition in 1947 until 1955, formed from the Muslim-majority eastern part of Bengal and the Sylhet district of Assam. Separated from West Pakistan by India, it held most of the country's population. Disputes over language led to its renaming as East Pakistan in 1955.
