731 · 8th century · Also known as Historia ecclesiastica gentis Anglorum

The Ecclesiastical History of the English People is a Latin history of the English church and peoples completed by Bede at Jarrow in 731. Running from Caesar's invasion of Britain to Bede's own day, it describes the conversion of the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms and is the principal source for their early history. It popularised dating by the Anno Domini era and was translated into Old English in the late ninth century.
