Edict of Paris
The Edict of Paris was issued by the Frankish king Chlothar II on 18 October 614, soon after he had reunited the Frankish kingdoms, following a church council in Paris. It confirmed the rights of the church and the aristocracy and required royal officials to be appointed from the regions they governed. It has been seen as a concession that strengthened the great landholders at the expense of the crown.
