Battle of Tertry

687 · 7th century

The Battle of Tertry was fought in 687 near Péronne in northern France between Pippin of Herstal, mayor of the palace of Austrasia, and the Neustrian mayor Berchar with King Theuderic III. Pippin's victory made him master of all the Frankish kingdoms and secured his family's dominance, which led eventually to the Carolingian monarchy.
