Battle of Tenmokuzan

1582 · 16th century

The Battle of Tenmokuzan was fought in April 1582 in Kai Province, Japan, when the forces of Oda Nobunaga and Tokugawa Ieyasu invaded the Takeda lands. Abandoned by most of his vassals, Takeda Katsuyori was cornered near Mount Tenmoku and killed himself with his son and remaining followers. His death ended the Takeda clan as a ruling house.
