Suruga Province
Suruga Province was an old province of Japan in the central part of present-day Shizuoka Prefecture, on the Pacific coast below Mount Fuji. Governed by the Imagawa clan from the 14th century, it was conquered by Takeda Shingen in 1568 and later held by Tokugawa Ieyasu. Its capital Sunpu, on the Tōkaidō road, is now the city of Shizuoka.
