Imagawa Yoshimoto

1519–1560 · 16th century

Imagawa Yoshimoto was a Sengoku daimyo who ruled Suruga, Tōtōmi and Mikawa from Sunpu, one of the most powerful lords of eastern Japan. Marching towards Kyoto in 1560, he was killed in a surprise attack by Oda Nobunaga's much smaller force at Okehazama. His death led to the decline of the Imagawa and the rise of Nobunaga.
