Tōtōmi Province

Tōtōmi Province was an old province of Japan in the western part of present-day Shizuoka Prefecture, around Lake Hamana. Long ruled by the Imagawa clan, it was contested after 1560 between Takeda Shingen and Tokugawa Ieyasu, who took most of it and moved his base to Hamamatsu in 1570. Shingen defeated Ieyasu there at the Battle of Mikatagahara in 1573.
