Elba
Elba is the largest island of the Tuscan Archipelago, off the coast of Tuscany, Italy, facing Piombino. Its iron ore was mined from Etruscan times, when it was smelted at Populonia, until the 20th century. The island belonged to the lords of Piombino and partly to Spain's State of the Presidi, and Napoleon was exiled there as its sovereign from 1814 to 1815.
